Looks like next week I will be picking up a 04 Cali Touring (me hopes). Anyways any info you can dump on me would be great about this bike other than what I have already read in the reviews floating around the internet. I have a couple of questions off the bat too...

Linked Brakes: Never had to ride a bike with these before and not sure if I want to. I am assuming its not too difficult to divorce the braking system to get independent control again?

Towing: I have a super rare Cycle Buro trailer that came with my Eldo (still restoring it). I am thinking about building another mount for the Cali so I can pack a Ton-O-Gear and go, and go, and go. Anyone think the drive train will be ok hauling the extra weight or will I have to beef up the clutch and shocks?

Front Suspension: How good are these? Is it something that may need/wanted to be upgraded?

Rear Shocks: Ok I won't even ask... these I know I will have some custom built before the end of the season.

...anything else that I may need to know, please let me know. I am coming over to the light after owning Jap and Brit bikes all my life. In fact this will be one hell of a change from going to a modified Thruxton to a Touring bike. Not expecting to go knee dragging on this one, but my riding needs have changed. I really would like to be able to ride for more than 1 hr intervals and pack something more than a PB&J sandwich and a bandana.

Thanks,
Aaron

Welcome Aaron, get ready for the ride of your life, literally and figuratively. Outside of the cam recall, the rest is quite simple.

Some people get used to the brakes, some do not. I'm the latter (too). All that is needed is a new front m/c and all the brake lines.

There are a few trailer hitch options are out there... many have been 100's of thousands of miles on stock components pulling a trailer.

Yes, the suspension is the weak link, front and rear. I'll be happy to get you the proper parts, including brake components. Email me direct: Todd at GuzziTech.com

The trailer hitch will have to be made from scratch... good thing I have a roll of duct tape and a plasma cutter. As long as the bike can pull it with me and the wife it wil be fine... anyways just checking.

Aaron
