New Battery Breva 1100

I don't see the point in buying a Lithium battery to save 1 pound in weight when I'm carrying many excess pounds on my waistline. And has anyone weighed their Guzzi recently? Putting a Lithium battery in a Guzzi in order to save weight really is a pointless exercise.

Michael, Lithium batteries run at 14.2 volts fully charged - if that isn't enough to crank your GRiSO, then there probably is another problem. That is why you need to give a Lithium battery a proper charge from time to time - the output from the Denso alternator (with its included regulator) doesn't always present sufficient power for Lithiums. A good check on the battery while running your engine around 2000-3000 rpm

What Kiwi Dave says, is spot on, hence the "fix" from the factory.

The only time I have had difficulty starting was when the Lithium battery was low. Moved the main earth point onto the gearbox stud (instead of under the hex bolt, which easily strips) and this problem has now gone away.

I have had several lithium batteries. I don't recall seen one read 14.2 volts except if being charged or just removed from the charger. If the motor is running voltage goes up above 14 volts, as it should. 14.7 volts to be exact. But to start the bike not only is the battery not above 14 volts but if it is cold a lithium battery is weak. Yes, if you put a load on it it warms up and the battery improves. But I don't have a way of putting a load on it with my Griso, as I have mentioned.
When they are cold there ability to deliver voltage and current goes down. It is a known issue with them.
As I have no issues with a normal lead acid battery I am going with I don't have a problem with my Griso. I had already done the No Start fix before Guzzi came out with their version. And as it was not something pushed out to the USA as a recall I have left mine with the original fix, as it works.
Many people have no issues with Lithium batteries. Most motorcycles have a way to put a load on the battery when cold. And I am sure some people just have better luck with them than I do. But, I have had three different lithium batteries from two different suppliers. None of them have impressed me. They have not performed better for me than the lead acid batteries I currently use. Yes, they weigh less, but as has been mentioned, that is of little significance on my Griso (or any other street Guzzi). If the decrease in weight makes you feel good, fine. But you can't actually feel that decrease in weight on a bike as heavy as the Griso. Perhaps on a lighter bike I will try one again.
If you like lithium batteries, great. Use them all you want. I am only pointing out that not everyone has had such great luck with them. They are not yet superior to lead acid batteries in every way. Maybe they will be one day. But, until they don't need a special charger, until they don't have issues with being cold, until they can deliver the same CCA, and mostly, until they cost the same as, lead acid batteries I think I will stick with what I know works.

I needed a new battery for my 2007 Breva 1100 this past weekend and the only one available with similar specs was at Autozone. Their Duralast Gold ETX14 AGM ready to ride. Hope it lasts at least 2 years. it started immediately. The last mechanic worked on it lost the two screws that hold the battery down but it fits well. 🙏

I changed mine to a LiFePO4 this year. I have never seen such high Voltage readings without the engine running.
