New mappings available for some of the earlier single TB V7's. had my first one through today since I found out about it from Steve. Called the importer and apparently its main purpose is to address idle parameters. Perhaps the cold start issue some have noticed but I can't comment on that as its hot here today! Idle speed is fixed at 1350RPM. DO NOT TRY TO ALTER THIS BY FIDDLING!!!! contrary to what I was first told after re-mapping one has to do both a parameter re-set AND the throttle self learning function or it will run like a three legged donkey with asthma.

Certainly as soon as it went closed loop the idle seemed more stable than the other bikes I've done so I'd suggest that if your bike is going in for a service you ask your shop to check the mapping. The original map is 3525V7135 I believe, the new map is -----149.

They raised idle to 1,350? For all conditions? It would help cold starts, but now the idle sounds high for the rest of time.

Unless the bike has a problem, I don't know if I would get the new map. But I'd like to hear if it's helped other riders. It sounds interesting.

Target RPM is programmed and non-adjustable with Navigator. I didn't check what it was with the 'Old' map. I will with the next one I get in. The new V7's are simply flying out the door so it won't be long. My instinct tells me that the target hasn't changed. They are all mapped with 1350 as their idle. Works fine,(Shrug?) what's the problem?

Pete

Former idle was 1,100 rpm. Changing it to 1,350 isn't a real fix for those bikes with lumpy idles.
It's just a cheap "solution" for the factory.

In the USA we have a saying; "I am from Missouri. Show me."
I.e. show me that this is a genuine step forward.
Perhaps I'm just doubtful, but that's how I stand.

Yup. You're absolutely correct. The engineers at Noale are spending all their time trying to work out how to screw over their customers. They would never come up with a sensible and workable solution when they can just stick the knife in and laugh at the poor saps who buy their product.

Gimme a break. You don't work in IT do you?

Don't attack me. Attack my ideas.

That is how one debates a proposal, and discusses alternatives.

My proposal is that raising the idle speed is a easy and cheap "solution" for the factory, which seeks to lower expenses.
Individual owner want the best solutions, regardless of cost. So this solution may not be the best, just the cheapest.

At one point Buell did the same thing to resolve some issues on their bikes, including my X1. They issued a mapping change that included a higher idle. I did not lose any sleep over it.
If the correct idle speed turns out to be 1350 instead of 1100, big deal. I don't think there is anything un-genuine or cheap about it.

I have been adjusting my DR's idle "by ear" since I got it three years ago and it was always steady and nice.
Then half a year ago I got fed up by too much deccel popping.
So I stuck up an rpm meter and I found out I was hovering around 1200 rpm where it just felt right but Suzuki specifies around 1500 rpm. Went there, it sounded too fast but deccel popping no more.
Sometimes real needs of an engine are not what we "feel" right.
For a small revy engine with fixed camshaft timing, I suppose low idle is not going along good breathing on high rpm.
I also suppose that in order to have it idle low right the ECU would have to work overtime controlling idling mechanisms of adequately fast response which would go out of tune or need maintenance too often to make it worth the fuss.
