Hi folks,

Merry Christmas, to start with...

It's not my first post on the forum, but I should have introduced myself properly earlier.
My name is Chris and I live in Belgium. Somewhere in my head there was a small voice for years that kept saying nice things of Guzzi's. Since a couple of months it became harder and harder to ressist...

So after a thorough net-search, I found this Englisch Breva (see my topic for a COC)

To make a long story short, I picked it up in between 2 snowstorms (with my van :!: )and it's in my garage now (with 20cm snow in front of the door  ). No possibility to give it a ride now, but already did some study work on the 'computermanual'...
One questions stays unanswered: each time I switch on the ignition and the bike has finisched 'waving' and 'blinking', there is a message "remember to enter your user code". Is this the keycode (label is still on the spare key)?
According the manual there is a possibiblty to enter a new code, when you have the two keys (I do), but what is it used for?

Known Breva: the previous owner is (was) also a forummember (bobelpfan). Thanks for keeping it in such a good condition. (and parting of it so quickly ;) ) I will try to keep it as neat as it is now!

Now still the paperwork to do to get it (her?) on the road legally, then a couple of nice-weather days...

As I understand it, the code you enter is required when making new keys. It offers limited security if someone steals your bike and then tries to code new keys to your bike.

A lot of people use the service code for the type of bike. For your Breva it is 36421, but of course this is hardly then a security code.

The user code also allows you to start the bike if for some reason the immobilizer system doesn't recognize the key (such as broken aerial) as well as to learn new keys. Using the service code was recommended by Graham some years ago and does make remembering the code easier.

hi!
Motoguzzi the Breva is a beautiful bike, you'll see a lot of fun!
user code is used to start the bike in an emergency;
usually not part of anyone.
if so, the factory is: 00000

But be careful! If you set it and then you forget, you'll need to change the dashboard does not bring up the writing user code.

Thanks for the replies guys, some more study-work to do...

We are 'doing' the livingroom for the moment, excellent job when the paint needs to dry :D

But why is he getting the prompt? My Breva doesn't do it.

The prompt appears on new bikes as a reminder to set the code. Perhaps your Breva is 2nd hand, or your dealer set the code for you. If the latter, you should wonder what it is.
