New Norge

I have an 07 Norge with 17,000 miles on it and the oil light comes on periodically for no reason. I ignore it. It will go out after a couple of restarts. From what I gather the oil sensor is a weak link in the system and is of questionable quality. I plan on replacing the sensor at some point. This has been happening since 1000 miles, have cleared the codes numerous times, checked it with VDST diagnostic tool, checked the oil level and came up with no answers. I attribute it to the oil sensor.

It may well be a defective sensor, BUT, Norge oil pumps *have* failed. (still pumping at lower pressure, but broken) I would be finding out whether it's the sender ASAP.

I've never seen an errant light warning in 40,000km. After the light show and before hitting the start switch there are just two lights I see - neutral and sidestand down.

Got out again this weekend in temps around 90, down into the Catskills for 250 miles. Wonderful day, with no alarms and getting about 50mpg. Only two things caused any concern at all. The drive line gear lash, especially in lower gears where it's very difficult to shift "quietly", and the exhaust popping on decel, which to be honest I never heard but was told about it by another rider. General consensus seems to be that there is no visible oil indicator unless you search the codes after an incident.

You can take quite a bit of the drive line lash out by adjusting the throttle cables, notoriously loose from the factory, Is this your first bike with a hydraulic clutch ? If so, it takes some getting use to before you become proficient. Might help to bleed the clutch system mine had air in it as delivered. How far are you bring the clutch handle in when going through the gears, shouldn't be any more then 3/4 to an 1 inch. It took me quite awhile before I had a DUH moment. Popping on decel, most do, I learned to enjoy it. This your first Guzzi ? Keep it above 3000 RPM

I've got a Ducati with the hydraulic clutch, but never a modern Guzzi until now. Not sure what others consider "modern" but to me it's anything post-Tonti frame. The rest of my Guzzis are at least 30 years old. Let's hear it for the folks at MG Cycle for making this possible!
