I am in the process of purchasing a new 2006 (left over) Breva 1100. Have had many bikes in my 58 years but never a Moto Guzzi. Currently I have a 2012 Harley Road Glide but for what it takes to make power with a Harley I was able to purchase a second bike. Since this is my first MG what should I expect. Hoping for a great time riding in the N Ga mountains but what are some of the charactistics of the Breva? Thanks in advance.

I rode my friend's Breva 1100 and that is what got me hooked on Moto Guzzi. I really liked the Breva, but I wanted the bags and the wind protection so I got the Norge.
Charactistics: Nice low end pull
Revs up to about 8000RPM
Handles well
Nice upright seating.
Unique engine
Drive shaft
Can add matching bags or aftermarket ones
I have gotten 51MPG a few times and usually average 47 or48 MPG (US Gallon)

You should enjoy the Breva.

Welcome to the forum and the world of Moto Guzzi. Guzzi's are like an italian girfriend...they endear your heart, quicken your pulse, stir your loins, and make you smile all the damn time, even in spite of their occasional tempers which is part of their charm!

I love my Breva. Bought mine in July 2011 as my first Guzzi ever. Came from sportbikes to this sport-tourer. I was so surprised how this bike handles on a fun twisty road. Got all the luggage and windscreen, so I can take it on longer trips. The bike is very comfy, but the saddle need some work. I can't do more than 1 and half to 2 hours in it. Maybe that's with every bike. Anyways I gonna have it redone this winter and see. I also bought 06 as a leftover. No issues with the bike.

I love my '06 too; 36,000kms on it now. Mine had the rear bearing replaced under warranty, a known problem with some of the early Brevas. At 10,000km, if you rocked the rear wheel at 6 and 12 o'clock, a perceptible movement could be felt. Also had a couple of starting issues last year - resolved by cleaning the battery terminals and starter motor ground.

I too just purchased a left over '06 Breva from Rider's Hill in Dahlonega. This is my first Moto Guzzi and I really love it. I sold my '07 Triumph Tiger 1050 in March and was looking for something different, the Breva doesn't disappoint.

I bought mine used (so I'm envious). Great bike. My first Guzzi as well. Likes to be kept over 3000 rpm and does not mind revs. Handles very nicely. The centerstand and sidestand bolts will vibrate loose and vanish if not Loctited—but I imagine a good dealer will do this as part of the prep. Stick with the 10W60 full synthetic oil regimen. Ride it a lot. I would agree that the saddle gets a bit "challenging" after the first hundred miles or so, although I've managed 18,000 miles without too much pain. I just bought one of those Freedom Air cushions for mine, for longer hauls, but don't have enough time on that for a sensible comment.

I also had the rear bearing go bad; a BMW part was recommended here and my shop installed, no further issues in thousands of miles. Some go, some don't (from what I read online).

This forum has been a huge help in learning to maintain my Guzzi.

Tom
