Once warmed up, my 09 Stelvio on cruising throttle hasthe 'normal' bristling mechanical noises that are hard to describe......but, leaning into the throttle (regardless of speed), there is an additional mechanical noise, almost like but not quite a knocking rod....I know it's NOT a rod....but it is a bit concerning....since noises are the most abstract of things and thus impossible to diagnose.....still...does anyone else have this phenomenon occurring?....Cruising and noise level at X, and applying throttle a mechanical hollw droning above and beyond cruising noise?

If it sounds like pebbles falling on a steel grate then it could be pinging - to which I'd suggest running some Techron thru with the next couple tanks of gas ...and keeping rev's up

Check the exhaust system for loose clamps and if it rubbing against the frame anywhere, also a crack in the crossover.
Has the cam recall been done ? .

I too hear this "knocking" when under moderate to hard acceleration on my 09 model. The noise got worse after I got the bike back from the dealer for a warranty service, in which they had to replace the ECM after it failed during a heavy rain ride. No cracks in piping, no loose clamps. It doesn't seem to be valve noise either. The noise seems more pronounced on the right side. Timing possibly? Maybe throttle body sync?

I have a 2010, mine has done the same right out of the crate. The fueling has been completely revamped and on the dyno, so pretty damn sure it's not pinging. I have resigned myself to live with it, gotta just be "Character"
