Just got it firing!
Wanted to start off with a proper hello, but not sure if this is the correct section of the site to do so.
I don't own a Guzzi yet, but got my first awakening when I saw a California Jackal way back, and knew then and there I would own something similar someday. That day is approaching soon, and I've decided when it gets here, the bike will be a California tourer. For now, I'm just doing my homework and studying up on the quirks, bugs, and miscellaneous things I'll need to know to make the right choice.
My current ride is (please don't ban me yet!) an unmolested '79 Yamaha XS650 Special, which I absolutely love to bits....except that I cannot do much more than an hour at a time on it without stopping to snap the back, neck and shoulders back in place. A great around-town bike, but just not made for long hauls. Also I'm just a wee bit too long to fit comfortably on it. So....here I am prepping for the step up. Hopefully next spring or summer it will happen, and I would obviously trust the advice and info from veteran Guzzi pilots above anyone else. Maybe even find the right candidate from a forum member, who knows?
I look forward to the process, and hope you all can put up with an off-kilter sense of humor, though I'll try to keep it safe in case there's any 'probationary period'.
