My 2012 Norge has a OEM silencer fitted, wich connects to a centre box sitting between the centre stand legs

I need to get this box out to weld the loose pipe that goes to thesilencer.

Do i have to diwconnect the exhaust down pipes to get them off the box ?the doesnt seem to be any play in it to get it out

I had to undo both at the head and wriggle them forward until they came out of the cat. Make sure the header pipes don't hang by the O2 sensor wiring. The cat itself is a bit of a mongrel to remove - plenty of wriggling, twisting and a few choice words thrown in for good measure.

Edit: I forgot to mention - the cat is held captive when the bike is on the centrestand. It can only be removed with the bike on the sidestand, and the centrestand pulled slightly down. At the same time, wriggle it, twist it, and curse...

thanks chaps, wiggling, twisting and cursing it is - assuming i can loosen the header bolts for the exhaust

had to chisel off the header pipe bolts, totally corroded pieces of cheap crap. was going to change the studs but they are solid and i dont want to break them. I found it easier to take the centre stand off, needed grease up anyway.

now all i have to do is get someone to weld it, most wont touch stainless steel

found a man via the firm that do my MOT's - he was quite local to me, picked the box up at 8 last and night and returned it at 10. charged me £25 which i was well pleased with. now all i have to do is put it all back together again !!!
