Hi Folks,
Just over a year ago I bought a 2015 Norge which had very low mileage, it having been a demo bike. All was well until recently my front brakes locked up. Luckily I didn't need a high level of skill to control the situation as it happened when I reversed down my driveway and applied the front brakes. I only noticed it when I tried to go to work the following morning and the bike wouldn't move. Opening the bleed screws didn't release the wheel so, once I got the time, off came the calipers. I found that the pistons were all tight so out they came and new seals were ordered. The cylinders were in perfect condition and the pistons only had a deposit of black stuff in a ring around some of them, the result of the low mileage and the seals sticking in places I guess. They cleaned up very well with a commutator cleaner and I had no qualms about using them again. I bought the seals from a highly reputable source but when everything was going back together the smaller diameter pistons were very difficult to slide into the pistons while the larger ones went in as I would expect. The brakes seem to be working correctly but I am a little uneasy about those tight pistons. I don't like it when things look like they should be right but are just not quite so. Am I missing some fundamental here? I emailed Brembo about it and they might yet reply, but perhaps an experienced hand on here might enlighten me.
Thanks
Brian
