Odd starter issue!

I made the heinous mistake of washing the G11 the other day (Yes, I know... Italian vehicles and water don't mix!) and since then it has had an odd starter issue.

I turn the key, press the kill switch to run, press Start and click.

I then press kill switch off and on, press Start and it works no problem.

Any ideas what this could be?
 
I don't think it's the water, all my bikes have gotten soaked in rain and never had a problem like you describe but it has happened on dry occasions. Hard to tell what's going on. See if you can reproduce the symptom.

Cleaning up the switch with Deoxit certainly won't hurt. I'd check the starter relay, then the terminals. Maybe your bike is finally suffering from the guzzi solenoid power routed thru the ignition switch???
