I have decided that this bike is a keeper so I went a bit berserk and ordered a custom built shock via Adventure Bike Warehouse. They fitted it and it was a bit more involved because of the size of the resovoir . What a difference. The bike has been returned to its original hight ( previous owner had fitted a shorter spring and had it dropped 30mm in the yokes) The ride is perfect. What a difference. Even dropping it off its centre stand has lost that splat and sag and because the bike is back to normal hight it goes onto the centre stand much easier.

I was less impressed driving home through the rain and at low revs in traffic it began running unevenly and stuttering etc. So NGK plug caps next

Watching the mechanic riding around (massive car park in front of the shop) and around the roads checking the bike out I thought that it looks and sounds fantastic :D

it must be odd seeing someone else on your bike. at least it gives you the view/sound what every else normally gets to enjoy. my bike has also had the front forks dropped through the yokes by the original owner, but only by about 1 to 2 cm. i don't know if that makes any difference to the way it should ride

Hagons are building me a shock, the stock one just has no give in it at all and its like riding a brick.

The one they made me for the Breva has really improved the handling.
(along with the Hyperpro fork springs of course) :)

I found the shock on the Breva was spot on. Perhaps its because my Stelvio had a shorter spring that it felt a bit soggy

Congrats, the rear shock is the weak link on most all of the newer bikes, that is, unless you weigh under 170 lbs. with gear.

For everyone else... I'm an Ohlins dealer, alongside of the others I offer; HyperPro, Penske & YSS. Happy to answer any questions

170lbs!!!!!! in my dreams :D I'm really pleased with the effect the new shock has had. The bike has become a whole new beast with it on and that is on the factory settings. It can only get better still when I have experimented a bit with the set up

I've just dropped the forks through the yokes by 20mm to speed up the steering (and cranked up the rear preload). It's still a bit cold for big lean angles up here at the moment but it turns in a lot faster now.

Got the bike back from Hagons today with the new shock fitted.
Because they used my bike as the pattern i got it half price.
A big improvement over the sachs unit, very happy with it. :D
