I have noticed a few bent fins on my oil radiator (cooler)
so I had the metal shop cut me a bit of ss perforated(5mm holes) 1mm sheet
to fit. and cable tied it directly to the face of the cooler
Atm its winter here so no risk of over temp, but I do wonder
if the reduced air flow is going to affect the bike in the summer

I have an offroad bike that used expanded steel sheet. Airflow would be better
but protection would be lower
any thoughts ??

regards

john

You could get some stainless steel mesh from McMaster carr. Get a course one with fairly large holes in it and it wouldn't do much to the air flow.

I think that it will not affect your ride in the summer. Just be ready adjust it when the time comes.

I noticed your question is a few months old, but what the hey. Stucchi sells an oil cooler cover. Your description sounds similar. I got one from MG Cycle. It actually bolts to the same mounting as the oil cooler itself. They have it pictured on the website.

Is this what you have, Z2?

Seems pretty dear. I'll wait a while, as I haven't seen any nicks in my cooler's fins yet, but it's still a veritable virgin at 600 miles.

From the picture apparently blocking the cover and just leaving the opening in the rear is not a concern. I think I will follow Wayne's suggestion and put some wire mesh behind the cover I got from Joe Kenny, which BTW is cheaper then the Stucchi unit.

Any cover that is put on the outside of a Griso is generally 'bling' since air, dirt and rocks are going to be passing through from the inside to the outside.
And that carbon fiber piece is just ugly IMHO.
I like the one that Joe made for Dan though.

I haven't seen any reason to add anything to the Stelvio yet.
