Just got it firing!
Changed the oil and filter last week on my v7. Much written about being careful not to overtighten the oil filter cover 8mm bolt. Some text recommend 12nm max torque. The crush washer I removed had been so squashed it had the bolt head hexegon embossed in it. I set up an experiment to see how much torque it would take to do this. Using an 8mm bolt, nut and a new crush washer in a bench vice. First 12nm produced no deformation of the washer. 24nm scored a circular line in the washer. It took almost 50nm! to replicate the indentation of the washer some trusted and qualified mechanic? Tightened. In fact I sheared the experimental bolt doing this. Luck has it that the internal thread in the block appears to be in tact. New filter bolt done up to 15nm and no oil leaks so far.
