Are there any other options for a oil filter for the 1200 motor? The one from the dealer is rather pricey, I think he said $18.95 +/-.

I plan on putting between 28K and 32K miles a year using this bike as a daily commuter. I will go broke in oil filters, oil and tires unless I can find suitable alternatives.

Is it the same wrench that I would have used on a R1100GS ? :S

The wife will kill me if I have to buy another specail tool to work on this thing.

Did some more research and found a few others that will work. I crossed referenced to the UFI 2328700.

Fram PH 6022 (2.29" OD x 3.36" L) car filter

Amsoil EAO-57 (2.92" OD x 3.4" L) car filter

Amsoil EAO-33 (2.92" OD x 3.4" L) car filter

Amsoil EAOM-133 (2.92" OD x 5.8"L) motorcycle filter - need to watch the lenght, don't know if it will fit under the plastic.

WIX 51215

Looks like that is a direct replacement of the HD as well.

It is different, but take a new filter with you to an auto parts house and you should be able to match up a correct wrench at a relatively low cost.

And the AMSOIL Filters are $12 ? So you save $5 every 6000 miles. Is the warrenty worth that much when you just spent $12, 000 on a new bike.

Well here in the USA the motorcycle manufacture can not force you to use the their oil filter or oil.

If a dealer claims I have to use their manufactured oil filter, then they have to supply it to me free of charge. This law was put into effect in 1978 because of some shady automoblie manufactures.

Moto Guzzi is not in the oil filter and/or oil manufacturing business, they like the other motorcycle manufactures have their filters manufactured for them, to their specifications. I am sure UFI manufactures Moto Guzzi filters considering they are one of the largest filter manufactures in Europe.

BTW, a Stelvio in the USA is $14,990.00, not $12,000.00.

Lol I was only guessing on prices to get thepoint over. Good law you have over there. My Ford warrenty was void because of Unipart servicing in the UK. Seems I wasn't showing loyalty to Ford.
Guess I wont be buying another Ford eh ?
