Got what appears to be an oil leak after riding on the left rear corner of the oil sump behing the side stand mount. I'm guessing the sump gasket has started leaking under oil pressure in use. Why the sum gasket should develop a leak having not been touched is beyond me. The pic show the back left corner of the sum looking up at the side stand mount. Oil filler pic shows the same sump corner from above show no oil leak. To get a clear view i'd have to take off the side stand. It seems the oil is spurting out at the sump corner gasket. I guess I'll buy a sump gasket and chahge it the next oil change. Is this a simple? Drain the oil unbolt the sump. Replace gasket and refit?

A straight forward job apart from the kneed for a long reach allen key for the 4 screws around the oil filter hole.
Best done with an empty sump at service time.

Same gaskets everybody else has who sells aftermarket gaskets. I prefer the thinner ones sold by Moto Guzzi, myself. Those puffy fat ones crack if you bend 'em more than 20 degrees. Also, if you're installing a sloppage sheet on a V11, you're much less likely to need to hog out the sidestand mounting hole if you use the thinner gaskets. Everybody wants the fat ones, though, so that's what we sell the most of.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately my bike has died. I was getting this load clanking changing gear. I put it on the stand spun the rear ok engaged 1st, clank cyclic grinding sound of metal eating itself coming form the region of the transmission UJ joint behind the gearbox. Beyond my limited mechanical skills, think the tranmission/gearbox needs separating to see whats bust. Dropped the bike at a dealer. Just praying the repair is not goin to break the bank.
