Just a notice that the Ontario Guzzi Riders are having a rally August 27-29 in Lavigne, ON. Lavigne is on Lake Nipissing in bush country. The rally is being organized on by a Guzzist who runs a pub/restaurant in the area (with help from others). While it is quite remote from the major populous areas of civilization, it is actually a nice ride and there is excellent fishing and camping up there. I was in the region this past weekend camping and you'd be amazed at the number of bikers in the region (mostly Harley's and touring bikes). Given it's the end of vacation season for all but empty-nesters, the traffic on the one-lane highways should be light. Most of the identified campgrounds exist to support the fishing community and there are many reasonably-priced cabins available (August evenings are cool at that time of year in the region so unless you're a seasoned tent camper, you may want one of the cabins.)

There is no charge for the rally and is primarily a pay-as-you-go event. There's a contingent of riders heading up there from Ottawa so people are welcome to come join our "gang". As a new Guzzi owner I'm a first timer so I'm not sure what to expect.

I have my cabin booked, Cory. My wife and I are planning to attend. The only thing that could potentially keep us away is the medical condition of my wife's mother, who is currently hospitalized with bone cancer. As long as she does not take a sudden turn for the worse around that time, we'll see you there!

Bruce

I'm a first timer also and curious to see how a rally is..... never been to one.

I'm actually starting my vacation on the 27th for 2 weeks ......the only issue is my wife is working the weekends and the two kids will be alone with my mom who depends mostly on us being near-by.

I'm may decide at the last minute but family comes first.

Dan

I have been thinking about it... looks like I am not on-call that weekend as well.

Neither have I and am quite looking forward to it. I just saw an old celluloid print of Marlon Brando's The Wild One at the Mayfair Theatre here in Ottawa this past Monday, so I expect the rally to be just like that - lots of rowdy drinking, general defiance of the local constabulary, drag racing in the streets, terrorizing the town folk, and chasing the local women. Because it's up in fishin' country, maybe we can go fishing with dynamite as well.

Should be a real change from my desk job. As of today I'm starting to grow my hair out.

Hee Haw!!! …. Don’t forget the moonshine.

I on the other hand always thought that these Rallies were actually ……. Rallying …. like the WRC, World Cup, Baja for bikes.
I said to myself “I'll be joining a rally ..... Man what am I crazy?”

The weather was perfect Dan. Sunny, warm and not a drop of rain!

Hope to see you there next year. :)

I put it in my Blackberry, but I think you mean August 26 to 28, not 29, unless it is being expanded to a four-day rally next year.

Bruce

Glad to see it was a good time, sorry I missed it. I ended up at a fundraiser that weekend, I'll try to make it next year .

WOW!!!

It looks like you guys had fun on your rally. Imagine my surprise when I saw the "Monetville Tavern" as the breakfast location, you were all actually in my home town, I grew up about 2kms from the Tavern and remember going there with my dad since I was old enough to see over the steering wheel and drive him home!

You can count me in for the rally next year. And if you need any help planning it let me know!

Amazing I cant wait till next summer!
