Pannier screw question

My Breva came equipped with panniers fitted, so no instructions or info with it. On the rear of the pannier, next to where the rubber bumper touches it, is a small screw.

What is this for? (It's got me beat).

That small screw should pass through a flanged spacer made of plastic. There should be a rubber strap that is mounted behind the bumper with an opening that hooks over the little mushroom to keep the saddle bag from flopping about. There's a similarly shaped protuberance on the bumper bracket to park the strap while the bags are off.

I haven't seen my in a year or so... don't need them I guess. The saddle bag assembly isn't shown in my parts book...

I've seen this rubber part on an Aprilia Capornord, but I don't see it listed in the Caponord parts manual.

Thanks Rafael, that makes sense. No straps on mine, obviously, so I guess they must fall off/break pretty easily!

The little rubber straps rot away pretty quickly. Get a couple O-rings from your local hardware store and you're good to go. They are more durable, too.

I used an O-ring for a while and got tired of of dealing with it. It has to be put away anytime the pannier is taken off. Toooo lazy I guess. I'll regret not using an o-ring if a pannier falls off though.

I bet if someone goes to an Aprilia dealer, he can get the part and then post the part number.
