passenger grab rail removal

You need replacement bolts? I've found Ebay to be a good source. You might have to wait a while for them to arrive, but otherwise it can be very nice.

Well I'm not really sure what I need. Once you remove the grab rails you need new/different bolts I think. Gotta figure out what size, etc.

You'll need two (2) M6 x 1.0 x 20mm - stainless is best. I have some I can send you if you want for a few $'s, and the cool aluminum shaped washers from Guzzi/V7R are $16.99/ea + shipping. I'm going to order in some for myself anyway, you want two?
Your local hardware (or Home Depot, etc if you're lucky) or metric fasteners store should have them (used to be a really good one called Fabory @Rt. 40/695 - but they have a $10 or 20 minimum).

Ahh I didn't think to look it up as a part number under the v7r catalog.

Todd, af1 racing lists that part number as an m6x18 not 20...?

Anyway, let me make sure I want to take the grab rails off before I pull the plug on ordering parts from you. They do come in handy when tying down a bag/luggage for trips with those bungee web tiedowns.

I am sorry guys for bringing this up. I also wanted to remove the rails, but I couldn't get the fancy Guzzi washer anywhere. My dealer wasn't interested to order it for me, so I went to local store for pair of bolts and normal washers. My question is, does the washer needs to cover the whole part including the edge (the black part of the shock) or is it fine like I have it right now just to hold the silver middle part? Cheers

I don't know if you guys have a West Marine store close by, they have a great selection with stainless steel hardware, bolts, washers etc. Any Marine supply place always have the best stainless steel selection of hardware. Learn that from my sailing days. On boats you can't use cheap hardware in a salt environment.

You should be fine. The bushing is not supposed to come out of the eye of the shock. In fact, on my 2012, the shock was mounted while the paint was still wet and I had to use a gear puller to get it off. The bushing stayed in the eye while I pulled it off.

My local Ace Hardware has a decent selection of chrome and black chrome metric fittings. Replacing stock fittings with the black chrome really dresses things up.

A side question; the Stone doesn't come with grab rails in Australia (only the Special does), is the U.S. market not the same?
In the US, the earlier 1-TB V7 Stones came with grab rails, but the newer V7II ABS Stones do not.
