Tuned and Synch'ed
I just returned from a 3,400 mile trip and I have now accumulated 15,000+ miles on the Norge since I replaced the ECU along with the Todd's Dynojet Power Commander and Autotune. My major concern was the fuel mileage since most of the people that I usually ride with can go 300+ miles between fill-ups. As well, fuel stops on this trip were somewhat sparse. I am pleased to report that the Norge averaged 45.6 MPG over 3,400 miles. I just drove normally with no particular thought given to maximizing mileage. This allowed the Norge to cover 260 miles at one point before fueling. This is entirely acceptable. The elevation varied from sea-level to 11,000 feet and the temperature ranged from 49F to 101F. Speeds ranged from 45MPH through Yellowstone to 110MPH through parts of Idaho and Montana.
One member of our group was riding a 2009 KTM 990 Adventure. His mileage and fuel capacity was consistently getting the group into trouble; twice having to stop and 'steal' gas from one of the BMW GS1200A's. The BMW R1200RT in our group was getting 47MPG, the BMW GS1200's were getting almost 42MPG, and the Victory Cross Road was getting 45MPG. We met several riders on this trip with Kawasaki Concours 14's and Yamaha FJR1300's. Their reported mileages were significantly less with one 'hot-rodder' claiming he was only getting 27MPG on his brand new Concours. Considering the speed at which he passed us on the Bear Tooth pass going to Yellowstone, I can believe it.
