Hello,
I know mike rich makes some pistons that supposedly significantly improve the pinging issue, while raising the engine's compression to 10.25:1.

I have been informed that the modern v11 sport engines are a virtual clone to those found on the griso/breva, save for the dual plugs. If this is true, than the mike rich pistons should fit into my griso, helping the pinging and making it more powerful.

It sure beats coating stuff or swapping an engine out, but i need someone who can confirm this. Even though i have a buyer lined up if i dont like the results, i dont want to tear my engine down to find out they dont fit.

Thanks AGAIN for the help,
-Clam

I'm not absolutely sure and I don't have the time to check rioght now but I think you'll find that the rod/stroke ratio was changed and the Griso/Breva pistons have a lower deck height than those of the V11.

By lower, do you mean MORE distance between the piston/top of cylinder (as in the piston is lower, relative to the cylinder top) or do you mean LESS distance (as in the difference in height is lower)?

If it's the first, I imagine it would still increase compression, just less so. It should also help with squish, just less so. right?

If it's the latter, i may need to double up on the gaskets. Since these are steel, is it safe to stack two gaskets, or do i just get a thicker one cut?

The height of the piston from the gudgeon pin to the deck is greater on the V11 slug I believe.

Hmm. Does anyone have access to one or both pistons and could get some measurements from the wrist (gudgeon) pin to the piston deck?

Todd has informed me that there is a piston place not too far from my house (about an hours drive or so) that does custom work, and the price doesnt seem unreasonable. Perhaps we could get some people interested, and we could have some made to fit the grisos/brevas, with the proper deck height?
