I have always been in love with Guzzi (over here in Canada) and have always pronounced it "Goozzee", hence the slang "Goose". I learned this from my dad who was a bike cop in post war Netherlands and rode them often. Now I hear people on the internet pronouncing it "Gootzee", using the same phonetic principle found in "pizza". When I talk about "Goozzees" to other bikers as well as at the dealer, do I look like an idiot? Or is this an acceptable Western bastardization of a beautiful Italian word?
