I was changing my transmission fluid today (13 Griso) and I noticed the little rubber plug covering the inspection hole on the outside housing of the flywheel (I think its the flywheel) wasn't centered correctly...it was like half off so I pinched it to try to pull it off and straighten it and it fell into the housing. Used a mirror and flashlight and a piece of wire but its not visible. My question is, do you think that little plug will cause any damage in there, or will it just get munched up over time. Its pretty thin rubber. My guess is the only way to get it out is way more work than I can do myself. Does anyone know if this thing could cause damage in there or should it be ok? Kind of bummed me out when it fell in.

It will lay on the bottom of the bell housing or be chewed up by the ring gear. It is a soft part so it should cause no damage. Might get hung up by the starter, but the probability of that happening is low. If you remove the starter you might be able to retrieve it.

Thanks a Lot. I'm glad to hear that. I didn't even think about the starter side. That's a Great idea!

Dang...this just happened to me on my 13 Stelvio NTX. Tried a borescope, removing the starter, and lotsa patience and still haven't found it in there. After reading this, I'm going to stop concerning myself with it.
on a side note, Auto Zone loans out borescopes for free. They have a bunch of loaner tools
