Question about software update for 1100

I was waiting on a part and havent ridden the Griso for a while. Finally got her up to full steam and now will start sorting it out. Especially now that its hot, too hot to be riding the MV on a regular basis.

One thing that bugs me about the Griso is the abruptness of its response when rolling on/off the throttle. Im sure there is some due to the driveline but this is pretty abrupt even with minute changes to the throttle at lower RPM.

Ive seen in the forum references to the adjustment of the throttle cable (done), resetting the TPS, syncing the TBs and then finally the software update.

Everything but the update I believe i can do myself and a friend has a software for the TPS. For the update is there a value and possibly something I can look at in the maintenance section of the dash to find out if mine is up to date? I don't really want to have to go all the way up to Riders Hill if I don't have to.

This is priority one for my bike right now, everything else works fine but this doesn't inspire confidence in rolling on the throttle coming out of a turn.

The software that can reset the TPS should be able to tell you which revision of software is in use. Just look for the last 3 or 4 places displayed by the software.

Thanks. A quick search came up with a lot of stuff to parse through to find if it was listed. Do you happen to know the most up to date version number?

The abruptness you are dealing with is a combination of lean fueling, and transition from closed to open loop. It's well documented under my ECU Reflash thread >HERE<. Feel free to contact me direct email with any questions; Todd at GuzziTech.com

I get that I will want to have it modified but right now I just want to get her up to top-spec as a baseline.

It will require a dealer to check for the most recent map or for you to send me your ECU for the latest factory map iteration. You can check the map version using Diagnostic software. Other then setting the valve lash, throttle body balance and TPS reset, there's not much else you can do outside of removing the evap cann and related. None of these items will resolve your issue.

First question is have you removed all the excess slack out of the throttle cables. You would be amazed how much of a difference that makes if it has not already been done.
While Todd is right about it never being perfect from the factory, it can be made to work very well with just some basic set up. I have Todds full set up on mine but it was not that bad stock once I did the basic set up. Step one is remove all the extra slack from the throttle cable. You should have just enough slack to keep the idle from going up when you turn the bars but no more.
Having a good dealer who knows what they are doing also helps.

Kevin and I pulled the evap canister and connected the two throttle bodies when I first went over to his house.

Ill re-address the slack and try to check the handle bar setup. I have some vacation to burn so I guess i will just run by the dealer about making sure the ECU is up-to-date and then see where it goes from there. Like said multiple times before, I just want to see how good "best stock" is before I start messing with the fueling.

We have a dealer up there (European in Dahlonega, GA) but I think they got rid of the well reviewed mechanic referred to on here.
