quick release coupling

Any tips on disconnecting the quick release coupling on the bottom of the Griso fuel tank? Squeeze, turn, pull? I'm leary of applying too much pressure. The picture in the manual shows the coupling with a 90 degree turn and mine is straight. Thanks
 
I am just back from the gym, trying to get smaller so to fit my Griso :p , and thus too tired to look it up, but believe you'll find by a quick search numerous threads on this, with tips on doing it (more) easily and some fixes for the brave.

P.S. Yes, I know this is inconsistent with my asking John Z to back off his "go find it" instruction. :laugh:
 
Gently push the line inwards toward the fitting , then push the sleeve outwards against the coupling and push the line off.

At the end, do you mean to "push the line off" or "Pull the line off". Probably my age, but I'm not getting it..

This is pretty much the procedure. Most of the posts on this are very old. It may help to disconnect the fuel pump, then try to start the bike. That should relieve fuel pressure and make it easier. You push the line toward the connector, the push the collar toward the line. It should come off. Be careful you don't bread the plastic connector coming from the fuel pump. One guy ( I can't remember his name) also stated that when you press the collar toward the line, you can see the metal clips, if you press them with a very small Allen wrench it helps also. Basically give it a go, just don't use too much force, if it doesn't go relatively easy, you are doing something wrong. Pause and try again.

I've found that it's better to start the bike before disconnecting the wires to the pump. Don't seem to get the "fault" indication in the panel this way. It definitely helps.
 
Success! Thanks for the help. Someone PM'd me and suggested the following "Lift the tank, (Having someone to help aids this part and disconnect the 'Quick Release' by pushing the fuel line onto the barb from the pump, then pull the grey collar back towards the pipe and pull the pipe and collar off the barb."

The second set of hands was the difference for me. Thanks
