Had to take my 2022 V85 in. The rear drive would leak after a long ride (3+hours) also the final drive housing would get fairly hot. My mechanic thinks it might be shimmed incorrectly.
Back from dealer after rear drive fluid change...
Breather is clear and works fine. Not the problem. Got it back from the dealer this eve. Incorrect shimming apparently of the rear drive. No play/ backlash at all in the unit.
After I got it back from the 900 mile check up 2 weeks ago where I had them change the rear drive fluid as part of the service, ( just intuitive on my part … or lucky). I have since put 900 miles on it and my mechanic changed it again today. Lots of metal in the oil and filthy dirty. Also the rear drive unit gets hot to the touch after an hour of riding. They ordered me a whole new rear drive unit…
Not suppose to ride it. …
This is on top of still waiting for my OEM luggage to get here from MG Italy…
This is on top of waiting for my new lower triple tree which was defective. One of the 2 steering stops was sheered off when I bought it. (New).
I still love it tho. Kinda like an Italian mistress. ❤️

It literally causes me physical discomfort to read this type of post.

What in the world is going on at the factory?

I tell you, this is a world wide issue anymore.

I think people have basically given up at their jobs. They go through the motions to garner a paycheck, but self-motivation, a commitment to excellence, and being present in the moment, whatever that may be, seems to be dead. Especially in China and Asia in general, where we have stupidly allowed so much of our manufacturing to go off into.

Just yesterday, this same post COVID-19 work ethic crap hit me again.

I installed new airbox manifolds on a Triumph America. I obtained the parts from Triumph. Two of the exact same part. Same part number, identical factory sealed packaging including exact identical part numbers, and date of manufacturer stamped right on the packages. I never thought to lay the pieces side by side to compare. Fast forward after a tricky and lengthy installation, I went to put in the boot clamps. One is correct with a 1cm channel while the other is totally different with two 2mm channels in it! Totally different.

I was livid to say the least.

You are to be commended for your remarkable restraint! I feel for your pain. I truly do and I’m so sorry it has gotten like this at Moto Guzzi. What a shame.
