Hi ,how do you get to top mounting bolt on rear shock of griso11 .Is it airbox off etc route ?
many thanks :?

Wondered myself, as I have heeded Pete's warning about grease in the rear suspension link pivots, but skipped this one.

At first I thought it must be: remove the right hand side plate (and all the rear brake lever/master cyl.). Then I thought I could get at it from above, by removing the seat and airbox. Both seemed like a lot of work.

Today I tried to reach from behind on the right side, and I could get a deep 1/4 drive 13 mm socket + 1/4 to 3/8 converter and 3/8 ratchet on it (ratchet stays inside the frame tube). Looks like it will work.

I'll let you know for sure after our last 60 degree day early next week and the end of the season.

Confirmed!

Yes it can be done without removal of anything.

Griso top shock bolt can be removed with the right wrench, without removal of any extraneous bits. You have to have skinny arms, and something like this (the lower one worked the best). Keep the wrench pointed down; you'll have about 12 degrees of rotation to work with.

P.S. I can say it's hardly worth the bother. The top shock mount is just a rubber embedded sleeve - no needle bearings or anything worth lubing; and I doubt it even rotates much.
