Rev Limiter removal

As Bella is still making power when it hits the rev limiter at 8,300rpm, I want to raise it.

ANYBODY KNOW THE SAFE LIMIT FOR THE VALVE TRAIN?

With open air box, custom exhaust and PC-V, currently making 76rwhp at 8,300.
Due to the short 66mm stroke piston speed at 9,500rpm will be 21m/sec. So my plan is to use that as absolute max, find peak power point and reset the limiter to that point.

I'm not merciless with mechanical implements but operate with the mentality that if it blows up we can build it better, stronger, faster.

i am not sure that you are pushing the limits too far. i have found on most bikes as your rev higher the power smooths off. it seems no sense to rev unless you have made changes elsewhere?

As I have clearly stated, Bella's power curve is still climbing when it hits the rev limiter at 8,300rpm.
As in, it has not tapered off or smoothed out as you put it. And I have made mods to Bella's volumetric efficiency.
Therefore, if the limiter was removed it would be interesting to see how more power it would make, and at what revs.

My question is;
ANYBODY KNOW THE SAFE WORKING LIMIT FOR THE VALVE TRAIN?
As in, valve bounce/valve float or rocker/push rod breakage etc. Or;
At what RPM's will I start to break things.

I do not but My 8v is also still coming on when the rev limiter is reached as is the Stella...can kinda suck hitting the limiter in a fast pass....it is not the most gentle rev limiter I have experienced :shock:

i did a quick search on who tunes moto guzzi engines. i am not sure what you mean by "bella" if you search about tuning then you would see that everythink has its limits. it might not be straight away but bikes are made for the long term. if you raised the rev limiter it might be ok but as to the engine life or additional stress on the components would need some one who tunes engines or to go back to moto guzzi asking them the technical questions.
i hope you find some one to answer your question

Bella is short for Bellagio.
Basically a Cali engine with a short 66mm stroke x 95 bore = 936cc
2 valves per cylinder with twin plug heads
40mm throttle bodies
Valve sizes I'm unsure of but I believe it is the small valve head

I always thought the heads on the Bella were stolen from the 1151cc Breva/2 valve 1200 Sport as they share the same bore dimensions.

I can't see MG designing a head specially for the Bella when they have form over many years for just raiding parts from existing machines :roll:
Just a thought...........

The Bellagio uses the 850 Griso/Norge crank, and 1200 Norge/Sport pistons and heads. This is from my contact at Piaggio SpA.

If you want to know the max RPM, I'd contact Mike Rich Motorsports in New York. he has built a few Land Speed Record Guzzis.

Rev limiter was reset to 8,800RPM as the computer came up with warnings when trying to raise it higher.
However, while my little exhaust mod gained a few extra ponies, it did so by peaking at lower revs.

So that makes my enquiry mute. I have yet to see the dyno sheets.
