I put this in the last time instead of mobil 1 aircooled. She runs real smooth and cool with this stuff. I found my new Guzzi oil. What great protection exceeds CF ratings! Great for solid tappits!!!!

CF? Isn't that for diesels? How does that compare to the gasoline ratings?

I go for SG oil myself.

This oil is for 700 hp gasoline race engines and its overkill for the little Guzzi V7,but my V7 purrs with it in the oil pan!! I like it better than the Agip oil.

If you read the fine print on the back of the bottle, most "diesel" oils are also rated for gas engines, SM is the common current standard along with C whatever for diesels.

Guzzis have a dry clutch so the biggest reason to use motorcycle specific oils does not apply. Being air cooled they will benefit from a full synthetic oil in my opinion.

Oil thread!
Wow!

Follow the factory recs, or blame yourself.

I am pretty sure this oil has been discussed here before.
It is not an oil I would use in my Guzzi's.
There are two versions, VR1 (which is street legal) and Racing, Not street legal.
The VR1 is a conventional oil.
It does have decent ZDDP levels, but it is not a full synthetic (nor semi-synthetic) and while it meets CF approval it also meets API SN which is a newer, lower spec as far as additives go. I prefer nothing above SH and preferably SG.
The Racing, Not street legal version is a synthetic oil. It has slightly higher ZDDP levels. As far as I can tell that version is not API or otherwise certified and I have no way of knowing whether it is suited to use in a Guzzi or not. I would think it is OK, but if you use it you would not be using an approved oil and if you suffer an oil related failure you would have no one to blame but yourself.

There may also be a version available in Europe that is a non-synthetic version of the VR1 oil but available in a 10w/60 for those that need it.

I personally would stick to synthetic oil.
