Well I finally got around to removing the SAS system and installing Todd's blanking plates and flashing the ECU.
WOW!!!
What a difference, no more deceleration popping, much better throttle response and control, better acceleration, way less vibration. Seriously, this is how the bike was meant to be.
The engine runs much more smoothly throughout the rev range, in particular between about 3500 and 5500, and is dead smooth (no vibrations at all) between about 3700 and 4500 RPM. It also idles better and revs faster and easier.
The throttle response alone is worth the time and money, before if I cut off the throttle to fast, either intentionally or accidentally it chopped so abruptly that I often got thrown forward, it was like a light switch, on or off, now it is fast but gentle. I can chop it completely but there is a tiny buffer there so it feels smooth, I would have paid the ECU flash $$$ just for this alone.
The entire bike feels and runs better, so smooth and sweet, I am in love with this bike all over again. Thank you Todd, if I get down to SoCal some day, I owe you a dinner for this.
The process was easy (I followed Godfrey's great instructions, found here), a thousand thank you's great sir. I took a bunch of pictures based on Godfrey's instructions and will get them up here soon. I took about 3 hours and mostly easy, the hardest part was getting some of the clips turned around so I could use pliers to open them. Patience is a great tool doing this process. Don't rush, and don't over think things.
If you have not done this modification, and you think that your V7 III already runs great, you don't know anything Jon Snow.
