Anybody know how to clear the service icon , for those of us that prefer to do our own service on our 1400s ?

There should be a way to do it from the existing controls.

Quote from another owner from another MG1400 User Group-

"My tech had to remove the battery cover and hook up the computer just to cancel the magic wrench. And he was in a hurry to get to lunch. If he knew the service code to enter he would have used it. He told me that MG won't give the code to the service techs because they would tell the customers. Kind of pointless to have the function and not let anyone use it. Hopefully, some day, someone will get it and share it here."

Funny I should just see this post. It has been discussed in another post but I just now hung up from talking to my dealer. He has no clue on the code as MG won't tell him so it is $50 and a 1-1/2 hour ride on boring roads to clear the wrench. I may have to get used to looking at it. I bought the Centurion software to hook up my laptop and clear it but it is not an error code so it does not show and thus cannot be cleared with it. I guess if you buy the much more expensive dealer package it will but I don't even know that for sure.

That is just plain stupid. You pay $20K for a bike and you cant even clear the wrench? I'd get use to looking at it. I track all of my bike's maintenance on a great Iphone app anyway. I dont need a stupid idiot light to remind me

It is and it works like this:
toggle to the "MENU" and press the toggle button (left thumb)
look for "SERVICE" and toggle there and press toggle button
TO ENTER THE CODE:
five dashes _ will come up on the screen
the FIRST dash will show a 1 and then a 2 when it gets to 3 press the toggle button
The display will switch to the SECOND dash_ and begin counting again
Press the toggle button as each successive dash_ scrolls through the number sequence
once 34534 is entered you have access to the SERVICE MENU
toggle to the RESET COUPON and press the toggle button
NO MORE WRENCH

You have to be fairly quick putting in the numbers, if at 1st you don't succeed try again.
