For a few days I had the red warning light on the left of Neutral and a big, fat Service message displayed in the dashboard on ignition on. Often when I turned the bike off again and back on the message and light would disappear. Also if I switched the engine on before the dials did their dance, there were no warnings. I checked for errors in the settings and I had a DSB 07 and 08 under A. Deleting the errors did not help.

However for the last few days there were no warning lights at all. It is a little warmer, but only by a few °C.
Should this affect the self checking or presence of faults?

DSB 07 and 08 refer to the oil pressure sensor, and an oil pressure fault. These seem to trigger often and should go away unless you have a faulty sensor, or no oil pressure. Having the 08 fault will trigger the service message. If it has gone away don't worry about it. This fault will appear if you have oil pressure when you shouldn't and don't have oil pressure when you should. If it has gone away, just keep riding. If it hasn't there may be an issue that requires additional troubleshooting. Temperature should have no influence on these faults.

Please folks…

If you ask a question in the General Chat, then state clearly YEAR AND MODEL. Thank You Very Much.

Most errors that phantom in and out like that are due to a battery that is on the fritz.

Load test it. I bet it fails.

When you install a new battery, the issue will most likely go away.

Hi,
It is a B1100 from 2005. the battery is a new Li Fe Po4 from last year and it starts up better than ever.
Oil is o.k.

Eventually I had the tank off and the cable shoe was very loose on the mushroom top of the switch. So I tightened the cable connector to allow a better fit and have to wait now.
I did not do any measurements. Is there a certain voltage if I measure the mushroom head against earth?
Does anyone know what the lower oil pressure limit is that triggers a fault?

Is the pressure sensor easy to replace? It does sit in a tight space. For the electrical connector I needed long pliers already.

I too had an 05 B1100 that had the same issue
The female spade is not the correct fitment for the nail head on the original sensor
Either replace sensor with a new one with a male spade connector or fit the correct terminal
I did the latter (via a little loom - male spade one end and correct nail head connector the other) and never saw the issue again

Does anyone know whether the pressure sensor is open to earth or infinity when the ignition is on and the ECU does its check.

With engine off and key on the sensor provides a ground. Oil pressure opens the switch to remove the ground path.

Thank you for the reply.
My nail head sensor does not have any continuity, so I guess it is for the bin.

Hello John,

I changed it for a EPS 1.800.001with the same spec but a spade connector. The message is gone. I hope I will not need another one as the old one lasted 17 years before causing problems.
