Shoot me, I can't get the tank completely on.

I tried to take pictures for this, but it is too tight and dark under the tank.
It mounted on nicely. The fuel pipe clicked in. The bleeding pipe closer to front of the tank slid on, but I cannot get the larger bleeding pipe on. It is the one closer to the seat and not shown in the service manual. There is no freaking slack in it!

Misery loves company. Somebody please tell me they had this problem too and solved it with super long wire pliers... Am I missing something simple?

I'm not sure what model year you guys are having trouble with. I'll assume its one of the newer bikes.

I can no longer install the rear mounting bolt!
I think you'll have to pull the tank off again. The harness for the fuel pump is really long and loops around a bit. It's real easy to get it caught in the mounting slot with the big rubber bung thus prohibiting installation. You'll have to disconnect the fuel line to get to it and check.

You should be able to create some slack in that hose. Its the overflow for the filler hole. It just runs to the bottom of the bike, although it may be tucked between the starter and the transmission case.

PokeyJoe, remember we've been having tank fitting problems with the older V7s too? It can get really bad.

There's no "magic bullet" but shaving off the rubber pucks helps. The pucks are either side of the frame (left and right), under the tank. They come off by unscrewing. Shave off each, and it can get you some extra room to jam on the tank. Some people Loctite the puck threads for reassembly, fearing they will unscrew themselves. I haven't had that.

This doesn't solve the problem, but it helps.

On my 2004 Breva 750, the plastic tank seemed to have "grown" a bit too long, mis-aligning the rear tank bolt just enough to prevent it from threading properly.

I solved the problem by removing the metal sleeve through which the long rear tank bolt normally passes. This allowed enough wiggle room between the bolt and the rubber bushing to get the tank bolt threaded OK.

Without the metal sleeve, the fuel tank isn't going anywhere, and think of the new disposable horsepower I gain by reducing the dead weight of the machine.

I didn't have a problem mounting the tank back on. Although I had to give the back of the tank a little push as I was tightening it down. I think it helps that I run ethanol free gas in it.
I just can't get slack in that larger hose. The smaller hose for the bleeder was a piece of cake because it had plenty of slack.
