I don't know if I'm being a pedant, but on my Bellagio, the sidestand light only comes on on two occasions:

1. When the ignition is turned on as a part of the computer check everything thingo, and

2. If I'm dumb enough to try to take off with the thing down (and obviously in gear), the machine stalls, then the bloody light comes on!

When I check other of the "new" machines, the light comes on whenever the side stand is down, yes in neutral, which is both logical and safe?

Is this just another case of the Guzzi Secretary finishing the design brief, or should the damn thing come on as a part of the DOT Australian homologation check - hence the Bellagio needs an electrical mod - warranty of course?

Cheers all,

jim

I'd say the light has to be on whenever the stand is down and the dash on, as an additional security measure.

Yep, ta, It didn't occur to me to even think about it because at my age, my sidestand discipline is pretty well ground into the brain, but when I rode a 1200 Sport the other day, whenever the sidestand was down and the ignition on, not necessarily engine running, up comes this little light and I just had to ask myself, why not on the Bellagio? So I checked a Griso at Mario's and it was the same as the 1200 Sport!

I reckon its a cock-up by Guzzi, and they're just hoping that no one notices?

Cheers,

Jim

I guess, Luigi messed up the wires on monday morning..
On the Breva it works the same as on the Griso and 1200 Sport. The light comes on, as soon as your sidestand is out in gear or not.
Another handy feature would be a light that your sidestand is completely out, like a locked landinggear on a plane.....
At least for a firsttimer.
On my very first holiday, first arrival on a campingsite I stopped at the reception, took of my helmet, kicked out the sidestand and got of the bike, it thumbled over because the sidestand was only half out.....:S
What an entry that was.....

Several guests came to help and I had a great evening on the campingbar with them later on.;)
