If you have one of these on your bike you may like to check the brackets, as this is what i found after hearing a clattering sound when going over a bumpy road.
The bracket has broken clean through.
Its a cheap and nasty POS which i was going to replace with a stronger "home made" version.
Looks like i'll be doing it sooner rather than later.
The Hugger was on the bike for about 3 months max, not very happy with Skidmarx quality!

Cheers Rob, I`ve had to alter the other bottom bracket coz the hugger was bouncing onto the tyre.....

Its tricky with a s/sided swing arm, the hugger should be reinforced around the mountings to make it stiffer. Same happened with
my Sprint, that was a Skidmarx hugger and I ended up kicking it up the garden and made a rubber "crap flap" instead.

Probably just metal fatigue and not the case, but I wonder if the hugger bracket could be striking the CARC torque arm?

As I've posted long ago I think that most huggers are a waste of space and serve no useful purpose compared to a flap to protect against stones and muck being thrown forward. Worst hugger I've ever seen was the one on my V11 Sport. It was completely open at the front. A bit like crotchless panties - all for effect and useless at stopping debris.

That bracket is miles from the torque arm, so no issue there.

My Norge came with the hugger, but otherwise I would have done the same as you Graham. Worked well on the SPIII in keeping the back of the gearbox clean.

I sent off that pic to Skidmarx and got a reply from the sales team.
They are going to replace the whole hugger, which is nice! :)

Ah! Mine is cracked at the lower-LH side, around the other fixation point. Doesn't seem to be worsening, but I might do the same thing as you did, now that I'm probably going to be ordering another screen if the dealer's complete list is cleared by the insurance :)

That was quick!
Postman delivered a big box this morning from Skidmarx.
Brand new hugger inside B)

Not sure if i'm going to fit it though, I might just settle for the rubber flap jobby!
New hugger possibly soon to be seen on e-bay!

So does it have a better quality bracket or the same old junk...?

Very timely post, I have yet to install the one on my Norge, I'll have a look at the braket and replace it if I feel the need.

Thanks,
Rob

Same old same old!
After seeing my pic they might beef up the brackets in future, yeah right!
