SoCal never ceases to amaze me. Rode down to LA today from Visalia, and decided to try a (mostly) new route. Saw 14 vehicles in about 40 miles: 6 motorcycles, 7 cars/trucks, and 1 golf cart. Great side trek.
Can you tell where it is???

I'm sure this will make it obvious to you locals.....

I really enjoyed the ride.

Yep, looks like the beginning of the old Ridge Route then Pine Cyn to(wards) Lake Eliz. Beautiful ride. I hope they open the Old Ridge Route one day again. Thanks Jam.

Bingo!!! Yes, beautiful ride!!! And not a soul around...... half of those 14 vehicles were in the last several miles north of Castaic. So is the Old Ridge Route closed then? I'm assuming it's all dirt, per my Benchmark Road Atlas, or that's not correct? How long has it been closed?
Today, just banzaied home on I-5 unfortunately, since I was running late. RC ran like a champ, of course....
Hope to see you soon. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

It's always desolately wonderful there.
ORR: Yes, ~5-ish years ago, there was a slide, which I don't think will ever get repaired unfortunately. It's mostly paved (with handfuls of remains of the original, single lane wide concrete & curbs)... with some gravel & dirt sections. Kevin Seiler put together a ride on it earlier this decade, which myself and a few others did. I also rode it solo many of times myself until the slide. Some fun history; http://www.ridgeroute.com/gallery.html
If you can get onto even part of it from either side, do it!

Hope to see you soon. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
Indeed, and the same to you & Dave!
