Some questions on the Griso SE.

I have about 2200 miles on my SE now and have some questions. Is the idle supposed to be 1500 rpm with the clutch lever pulled in and 1100 rpm with the lever out? Mine does this. The left cylinder is noisy on start up and till about a mile down the road than quiets down like the right one. I have checked the valve adjustment and reset it at .006 ex and .004 in with no change. The tech told me it's the nature of the beast not to worry about it. I have had the TPS and TB adjustment done, which eliminated the surging I had since new. Thanks.

The left and right sounds the same on my 09 G12. Your idle may be set a bit high. But are you checking it with the engine cold or warmed up?

All the best,

Mark

I do the valve adjustment after the bike has sat over night so it's as cold as it's gonna get.

Hi,

my Griso SE is also having this effect, but only for a short time: when you pull the lever the idle goes up a bit and after a whiles goes down again.

I always wanted to see in the wiring diagram if there is a clutch switch that somehow connects to the ECU. If so, it might be a 'wanted' effect...don't know one, except if they are afraid that if you release it that additional mass could stop the engine.

If there is no switch, this must be somehow mechanical due to less force needed to turn the clutch + gearbox and that the ECU reacts slow on this....

Cheers

There is a micro switch on the clutch lever mount, but it is only there for allowing the bike to start up in gear with the lever completely pulled in

I was kinda hoping for some insight into the noisy vales on the left cylinder. I'm thinking since it quiets down after less than a mile of riding that it's an oiling or heat related thing. Does this sound possible?

From what I've read on the forum over the ages these motors do seem have a tendency to be quite noisy. And not always uniformly so. Accepting that you're not caught up in the cam recall fiasco, also substantially documented hereabouts, then I don't suppose it's an issue.

My older 4v is quiet as a dead kitten, but then it has it's own drawbacks.

I'm surprised Ropes hasn't chimed in on this one to tell you to get on with wringing it's neck on every outing (the bike rather than the kitten that is).

Yea, I pretty much ring it's neck and my B1100's too. They seem to like it that way. The 4v is much quieter than the SE and I expected that but the fact the left cyl.is louder on start up and till warm kinda has me bugged.
