Hi,

So on occasion, after heavy rain, my '09 Stelvio's speedo stops working, the red triangle warning light comes on, and the dash reads (SERVICE).

I've always just let it dry out naturally, and it jumps back into life after a day or so. But not this time, it's been over a week, and the bike has been dry for most of that time.

Anyone else had this problem? Any ideas? Is it worth removing the battery terminals for a while and hope that does it?

Covered years ago on this forum. These sensors were not very water proof and needed to be epoxy coated. Yours has now failed and needs to be replaced.

Thanks Wayne - I've done some searching and found this:

883768

It's the non-waterproof version, but I'll silicone the cable entry point.

Can anyone say whether this part is re-usable or if it'll need replacing as well:

GU06765500

Thanks!

strangely enough I took the bike for a 100mi spin on the weekend, and after about 90min the service warning went out, and the speedo jumped back into life (although somewhat erratic!) this was short lived though, as after I'd stopped and re-started the problem came back.

It seems there may still be life in the sensor yet. I can't seem to access the fixings though - will I need to remove the back wheel?

Have just replaced the second speed sensor, after the last one failed.
I am getting erratic and inaccurate readings. Any ideas what could be causing this fault? The replacement part was new...

It is possible the new part is defective. Clean connections? Did the clearance between the sensor and wheel change?

Will disassemble, clean and replace.
Clearance between wheel and sensor unchanged to my mind. Garage did fit new brake disk, but that should be unrelated?
How fine are the tolerances for clearance between wheel and sensor - there was some build up of adhesive or something at the fixing point; may need to get that back to completely flat

The service manual in the Downloads section gives the procedure to check the clearance between the tone wheel and the sensor. If the tone wheel has been deformed it will give erratic readings. You need to upgrade your account to download the manual see https://www.guzzitech.com/forums/threads/user-account-upgrade-donations.14025/

Thanks - I have a copy of the manual:

"...air gap thickness (0.6 / 2.2mm - 0.024 - 0.087in)"

Sounds beyond my competencies. I'll take it to a professional
