Sport 1100 Fork Springs ???

My '96 Sport 1100 is due for fork seals and new oil, so I thought I'd look into fork springs for it since the stockers are so soft.

I seem to remember some people using a set of springs from Progressive. Of course, they weren't cross referenced for use in the Sport 1100, but were working for some people.

I used to have the Progressive part number, but can't seem to find it. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Or, does anyone have any suggestions for stiffer fork springs on a 1996 carbed Sport 1100 with the 40mm Marzocchi conventional fork?

Mike, just catching this... are you at a place where you can pull the springs and measure them? If so, I can be sure to get you the correct set. HyperPro shows a listing, but I'd rather be sure.

No. I've not torn into it.

It's needing seals, so I just thought I'd try to figure out some stiffer springs for it.

Was thinking of doing this in November.

Maybe one of our other members knows the length ?!?!?!

I don't have an answer for you now but I am in the same boat as you. My '93 Daytona needs fork seals and I figure that while I have it apart I may as well swap springs. But I have no idea yet where I can find straight rate springs in different rates that will fit the bike. I expect I will have to pull the forks apart this winter and measure the springs to see what I can find. Worst case senario I end up hacking off an inch or two of the stock spring and replace it with solid spacer to increase the spring rate of the stock spring (or a new one of the stock rate).

Greg at Moto International in Seattle sourced me some WP fork springs for the Marzocchi forks. I shipped my forks off to them Friday. I'll have the bike back on the road in a couple weeks and will report back with my results!

Yea, they likely are progressive springs. I'm hoping I can find a pair of straght rate springs matched to me and the bike. I expect to do some track days (or even race it) someday. I would cut the stockers first. Hope they work out for you.
