Hi everyone,
My new 2014 Sport 1200 has just had its 1st service at 1100kms. However, now at 1400kms a spanner icon has suddenly appeared on the dash, indicating maintenance is required. Any ideas on how I can remove the icon? Is there a code I can enter? Should I be worried or is this just a case of "take it back to the shop"?
Thanks in advance,
Baz

Baz, you can do it yourself - the process is listed here somewhere... - it's a bit hard to reset a service icon when it hasn't come up, I can only assume this is what happened. Where did you get it serviced?

The service reset code is 36421 for your model. From memory, you need to access the dash diagnostics panel. To do this move the trip meter switch all the way towards you (you will see lap timer or something like it), press the button until you see "Service Reset" (or something similar) then hold the button in until it asks for the code. To enter the code, press the button until 3 comes up, hold the button in and it will go onto the next digit. repeat until all digits are in and hold the button in. Then you will get a different menu the allows you to reset the service icon.

I may not have done this clearly in the right sequence (it has been a while - I just do it automatically). if you need further assistance, call me on 0450 536 807 when you are at the bike and I can talk you through it. How close to Lucas Heights are you? You could visit and we could meet up and I can show you how to do it first hand. Up to you.

Sounds right to me, Tony.

Baz, if you have a look at the "Resources" tab at the top of this webpage, you'll see a 1200 Sport Service manual there to download.

Wow Tony. Not only was that a fast, thorough reply, but the offer for personal assistance is extremely generous.

I had it serviced at Northside Motorcycles, Artarmon. Nice guys - They are well versed in Aprilia, Triumph and Ducati, but new to Guzzis.

I'm in Collaroy on the Northern Beaches, so a fair way from Lucas Heights ;)

Thanks very much. I'll try what you've suggested in a few minutes and let you know how I went.

Cheers mate,
Baz

Well, Tony's advice on the service reset procedure has proven effective and the service icon (spanner) is now nowhere to be seen.

Geez I love this forum ;) Well done Tony and Mackers, and a huge thanks to you both.

See you out there.

Baz

Good on you Bazza, glad to be able to help. Are you in MGOA NSW? We meet at "The Friend in Hand" hotel in Glebe on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Please come to the next one (9th December).

Hi Tony,

No I'm not a member yet. Might be nice to be able to chat with some like-minded chaps though, especially if there's an ale or two involved. I'll do my best to be there.

Cheers,
Baz
