Hello guys !
I would like to replace the stock steering dumper on my 1000 SP with something more modern/better like Bitubo ,ohlins ecc. but did not find anything as a direct replacement .
Is there an universal steering dumper that would fit my bike ? If yes, which one ?

Thanks a lot
M.

Ah ! forgot to ask, will it worth change it ? will I notice the difference ?

I agree about removing it and not replacing it. My preferred option.
But if you want one for some reason then you should be able to find a universal one that will fit. The two main dimension are over all length and travel or stroke.
But I am pretty sure that if you remove it and try it without one you will feel a difference. Lighter steering and a more nimble feel.

I find most Tonti owners use the steering damper backwards.

I don't have mine tightened at all on the road but if I'm doing a rocky water crossing I crank it on so the steering stays straight and the bars don't jump out of my hands if I hit an unseen obstruction.

The OEM is easily rebuildable using packing gland material. It is just a tapered stern gland type mechanism. Some teflon infused cord, a bit of silicone grease and its as good as new.

Up to you. I have a system that works for me. If you don't go anywhere off the tarmac then it probably doesn't matter.
