Can you rebuild a Stelvio 1200, 2008 with a 32 L fuell tank ?

Witch parts needed ? Pictures available ?

You can download the parts list here: http://www.tlm.nl/onderdelenboeken/

I did a quick comparison of the big parts in the parts diagrams and can't find anything with the same part number. If you look at the illustrations, a lot of the parts are visually different. I don't know how much must be changed to upgrade tanks, but it looks to be expensive.

I expect it'd be cheeper and easier to go with the Stuchi auxillary tank.

Does any where still sell stucchi aux tanks? as they've been out of stock on their website for time, or maybe they're just rubbish at up dating the site?

The guys at MG Cycle told me that Stucchi is "redesigning" the auxiliary tank. No word yet on when the new generation tanks will be available.

Maybe they'll increase the capacity a little.

I don't think you'd want it any larger than it is now. I do wonder what they are redesigning though. I love mine!

They were listed as out of stock before during and after I bought mine.

I asked Ed at Haywards in Cambridge about swapping the bits over for the 32 litre tank and although at the time he couldn't price up all the bits it was still cheaper and easier to but the Stucchi aux tank.

If you really want one ring the factory, what seems to happen is they make a few and sell them immediately to the people who pester them the most!

Saying that they were nice people to deal with and the tank allows us (always 2 up on MG) to go 200 miles before looking for petrol. I think it is essential as the rest of the bike (unlike my sports bike) comfort wise encourages you to keep going.

Regarding the 32L tank conversion. In the USA, my guess is that it will cost around $4k to fit the new parts. The frame remains unchanged, so its doable. Besides the tank, the side ducts (body work), fairing, windscreen and dashboard would have to be changed. The dash is fitted to its respective fairing, so the electrical connectors would have to be checked to make sure they are equals before switching over. Otherwise a custom bracket is in order. Even the headlight assembly has a different PN but that may be the difference between US-DOT and the EU. The bike color would just about change so a paint job on the front fender would complete the transformation.

The Stucchi redesign may be to lower production costs? We'll find out later than sooner.

Possibly the redesign is to allow the aux tank to work with the euro sidecases. the touratech-type cases (US) have more clearance between the wheel and the sidecase frame. The euro cases (look like Norge cases) don't allow the Stucchi aux tank to mount. I know, I measured mine and it was a no-go.
