09 Stelvio been running rough recently and discharged battery - twice. Thought it was a charging issue and began investigating, but output from alternator was 13.8v. I thought it should be higher and wondered if a phase was out or a diode in the regulator blown, but the bike was still starting. While working on the bike I checked the state of the plugs (ropey) so cleaned them up and gapped them. Bike started and ran well. I went o get my helmet for a ride and the bike wouldn't start - big ! SERVICE message on dash with red triangle showing. Neutral light wasn't showing like it should and there wasn't even a click from the starter relay. On switching off and on, an error message showed DSB 02. On looking this up it says 'DSB 02 Key not present or transponder broken' Any ideas how to fix this without replacing the whole ingnition switch and coded keys.

I would start by disconnecting the battery leads and turning the key "On". Leave it for a few hours, reconnect and boot up. Hopefully it will sort itself out.

Mackers, has this proven to work with others? What does turning the key on without a battery connected actually do? Others have suggested touching the battery leads together once disconnected to clear the codes and start afresh too?

The though is that with the battery disconnected and key on it should drain any residual charge in capacitors.
