Is there any reason to pull the temperature sensor on the 4-valves for rebedding and heat sinking, or are they accurate as supplied? I was thinking that might be the reason for relatively poor fuel economy on "around-town" riding.

Interesting question John. The sensor sits in the valley and to be honest i don't know of it is 'Dry' or 'Wet'. I added some TP to mine but haven't to anyone elses I've worked on and have noticed no difference in fuel ecconomy or had any reported. Sorry, s'all I can tell you....

John,

Being new to Guzzi I am not aware of this temperature sensor your are talking about.

That said, I have noticed that when the wife and I commute the 70+ miles every morning according to the dash computer I average between 39 - 42 mpg going up the highway but when I get into DC my mileage tanks to 30 - 32 mpg when I drop the wife off and then head over 12 blocks to my office and sometimes much worse if traffic is heavy (lots of stop and go). At this point the bike is at operating temps and has been running for well over an hour. If it was cold like in the afternoon when I go to pick her up I could understand the poor mileage issue. Is this what you are talking about?

BTW, I just performed a service and could not get my hands on any 10W-60 oil, even my dealer was out. I used some 20W-50 Amsoil and I have lost 2 mpg.........I find that very strange. This is a average after 4 tank fulls of fuel. I didn't think there would be that much difference in products.
