Stelvio Tyre Options, Opinions and Reviews

I looked at this thread and did not see any recomendations as I am looking for a tyre which will hold the road and give at least 7000 miles and can be purchased and fitted by a local fitter. I was hoping one of the local lads has changed their tyres and could give their pennies worth. If all I am getting from pirrelli is 5k I will look at bridgestone.Chipper

I have used in the last 10k on my bike is the mix of DUNLOP D607F (FRONT) & D616 (REAR) they are awesome.

Thanks Antonio for the reply I will be going for the bridgestone 020 sports touring tyre as I want to see what mileage I can get out of them. The pirellis are virtually shot at 4500 miles front and back and fitted they are

OK, so the Metzeler Z6 has 4000 miles. the original rear tire only did about 3000 miles. This weekend I road over to the coast. I slabbed it for a few hours to save time. That abused the tire big time. I had about 36 PSI in the tire. I guess that wasn't enough to keep it from overheating.

Hi wayne

Z6's are very sensitive to pressure, a pal of mine toasted a rear on an FJR13000.
He rode 110 miles up the A1 fully loaded with low pressure. The tyre overheated and looked 110 years old. It was into Newcastle for a replacement the next day, expensive start to our trip to Scotland.
He has since fitted Piolot Road 2's and love them.

They wont fit the Stelvio though :(

I found on the dutch Guzzi site that there is a proper off-road Stelvio in the pipe line.
Looks like it is wearing the Conti TKC80's like the BMW, maybe a 21" front wheel too?
If you're thinking of getting a second set of wheels, this would be the ticket.
Cheers, Jurjen

I've just bought a new NTX/TT, (delivery next week) I was going to have the wheels & tyres switched to the standard bikes as most of my riding will be on highway and mountain twisty roads... Might be a good idea to call the dealer and keep the originals on it.
I always had Tourances on my 1150 GSA and got 10-11000 km out of the front and 7000km out of the back, I'm guessing the Stelvio might give about the same as it's roughly the same weight.

I was concerned the standard Stelvio (which I took the demo on) runs a bit wide on bends, possibly the skinnier wheels would improve that

EDIT: I thought about this all night (I was working) and called the dealer this morning, i'm keeping it on the thin rims, IMHO, for my style of riding I can't do better than Tourances.
