Strange slipping feeling from transmission or clutch?

Every now and again I feel this strange slip feeling from my transmission while accelerating. It almost feels like the transmission is slipping, it makes no strange noise at all just this strange slip feeling. I checked my clutch adjustment and everything appears OK with that. So I wonder if the transmission is somehow slipping out of and then back into gear without making grinding noise or is that even possible. I know these transmission do strange things like difficult shifting down into second and first which improved on my bike with miles. But now this new slip thing once in awhile. Is this common with these transmissions? I know they have quirks.

Does the engine rev but the bike not accelerate? I would hazard to guess that your clutch is slipping. Try accelerating in 4th or 5th gear at a low speed. if the engine revs, but the bike does not speed up, I would suspect the clutch is slipping.

No rev at all. That is why I'm sure it is not the clutch slipping. I'm starting to think it's some type of miss with the EFI fueling system or plugs fouling out for a split second. It's something to do with taking throttle input because that is when this happens. Did it to me once yesterday and noticed it's when I'm giving it throttle it feels like it is having a split second issue taking the throttle.

If no rev, then there is no slip. Sounds more like hesitation. If you give too much throttle, there can be a lag in engine response.

OK, thanks John.....feels like some type of taking the throttle glitch.

I can't get the clutch to slip at all under even hard throttle, but I do feel a little hesitation sometimes through the rpm range.

Had the new download installed and that is when this started to show up. It improved cold starting but for some reason it now gives me this little hesitation deal once in a blue moon. I'm getting like 50 mpg so can't complain there.

Glad to hear it isn't the clutch. At what RPM do you encounter this hesitation? Just curious, as I get a lot of "searching" by the ecu/injectors at lower RPM, but it seems fine above 4k.
The driveability reminds me of early fuel injected BMW's lots of searching and surging at low RPM's. Do you have a stock map or a custom reflash?

Maybe it is time to visit Todd for an ECU reflash. His maps seem to do better than the factory ones.

It appears to happen when shifting up a gear.....most often 2nd or 3rd gear. Some times a little hesitation glitch if I throw the hammer down. It's a split second thing which makes it feel like the clutch or transmission slip. Feels different then a carb fart for some reason because it will do it in a smooth way without a pop. This is the first long term EFI bike I've own, other then a Dyna Glide for a short time, that bike EFI ran perfect for me, never had surging idles or searching or glitch of any kind.

The Re-flash is the stock Moto Guzzi one or what they call an up-grade at the dealer. It improved the cold starting but now I've got this searching thing going on that it didn't do before.

Up date.....for some reason the bike stop doing it. Either bad gas gave me that slipping/missing feeling or the computer re-program itself...who knows. THIS BIKE JUST CONTINUES TO GET BETTER WITH MILES. I've never own a bike that takes this long to break in. What a great little bike.

Typically ~10k miles before it feels the best. Also, the mapping is very temperature dependent. Something I work on with the ECU mapping.

So do I need to take the whole bike to you or just mail you the computer? What is the location of the computer on the bike?

Could be worth the trip down to your place.

Just need to plan a trip down that way. Going down 1 would be a great ride down.
