Anyone out there have a USA source for the Stucchi Luigi oil extension tube / dipstick for the Norge? If anyone has fit this up, do you have any comments?

Thanks

Jetdoc

JetDoc, ring up Rick or Gordon at MGCycle.com and see if they can get them... they deal Stucchi products, though I don't see the oil filler tube/extension on the website. Post again on what they say.

I just purchased a Stucchi Luigi Oil extention tube direct from Italy. After e-mailing the order I received it in 3 business days! I installed it and am delighted with it. It is much better than the Teo Lemers extension and it looks really sharp. I can even do my oil changes now with just a regular funnel. No more taking ferrings off to change oil.

Kenrad, could you please post pictures? Am I right that the brace installs onto the cylinder head?

(It looks interesting, but I'd not be too keen on having a something 'pullable' like that in so easy reach - and not even on the side that usually faces a wall when I park the bike!)

Hi RJVB,
I have attached copies of the instructions that came with the dip stick assembly. I am not sure how these pictures will come out as I am not a computer tech kind of guy. The bracket attaches to the starter motor bolts, cleverly designed. I did not have to take the side ferring off, I just loosened it so I could get my hand in there. I withdrew the starter motor bolts from the front and behind the exhaust pipe. It took me 30 minutes to install and I was very happy with the product.

Bu the way RJVB I have appreciated and enjoyed reading all the onfo you have contributed to this site over the last 2 years and I hope you are getting over your little oops with the dog!

All the best,
kenrad

Tight fit either way. Recently installed the TEO LAMERS product. Not the best solution outiside of a enginered soulution.

Ron

Thanks for the kind words, Kenrad ... but are you sure you're not mistaking me for someone else ... I've learned about everything I know about Guzzis and motorcycling in general over the last 2 years! ;)

Parts are trickling in and repairs on the Norge are coming along, from what I hear, so possibly the wait will be shorter than foreseen!

Oh well René, The weather is lousy in Paris anyway. Not much fun riding in the cold rain thats coming your way. Makes the waiting easier I suppose.
Look out for land mines on the sidewalks. Another dog hazard.
:silly: :silly: :silly:

Land mines ... slippery ones you mean, of the chemical warfare variety? :D

weather is actually gorgeous here, the last couple of days...

Many thanks Ken for your write-up and pics....

I`ve been using a long-nosed pair of pliers and always manage to burn some part of my fingers while doing it.....grrrr !

I guess thats what Guzzi-fanatics mean when they talk about "character", I thought they were talking about the bikes but it applies to the owners as well.....:S

I emailed Stucchi and they gave me their Brit agents addy so this is their reply if its any help to Norgists in this part of the world.....

Hope this helps.....BTW burns healing well with Savlon cream and character building book.....

Eric.

Hmmm, for that money, I think I'll keep on using the socket with a slot cut in it, plus extension, and a tube over a funnel for filling.
No burned fingers either.

Ya know e-v-e-r-y- thing I have purchased for the Norge has been improved upon AFTER I bought that item....

The Teo Lamers extension is at best a PITA... The stick is two-piece and the top of mine has come unthreaded from the joining collar, the bottom fitting leaks,I don't care how much I tighten it and/or use thread seal... Not a happy camper about that... :(

This dipstick extension looks much better, I only hope that the area that I have filed out on the fairing for the Lamers unit lines up with the new one.

Is that stick one piece...?
Are there any fitting issues with the fairing AT ALL....? The frame looks like it interferes with the lower fairing mounts..? No...?

I actually thought of fitting an early SP tube on mine....

Thanks for posting that kenrad... :)

How did you pay for that...? Paypal...?

Best,
Rob

Anyone need a used Teo Lamers thingy...?

Hi radguzzi,
I had no fitting issues. The bracket fits onto the starting motor bolts. The tube comes right up at the back corner of the head and does not interfere with the fairing at all. It is a perfect fit. Loosely fit the bracket to the tube before you bolt it to the starter motor. It took me 15 minutes to install and works great.

I e-mailed stucch and Lisa replied. I gave her my credit card information and the unit arrived on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada in 4 days from Italy, better than local mail!

All the best radguzzi,
kenrad

I purchased the Stucchi Luigi Oil Extension tube for my Norge from my US reseller. Part arrived just before the week-end and I installed it before my Sunday morning ride. Installation was fairly straight forward though I had to rely on the pictures from the Italian instructions. The English instructions included in the package were for a totally different accessory and therefore useless.

Once installed I put the Norge back together and went for a 75 mile ride. I stopped periodically to check for leaks but nothing was obvious until I got home. I noticed an oil drip under bike just after I parked and sure enough the Stucchi Luigi Oil Extension tube was leaking. The left side of the engine case below the dipstick was coated with oil.

I rechecked the tightness of the nut and it had not loosened at all. I wiped away the oil and ran the engine with the side panels removed and noticed a small amount of oil seeping from the bottom of the crimped stainless fitting where it connects just above the tightening nut. Doesn't seem to something that can be tightened so it looks like the part may be defective. Monday I'll call the reseller to see if they will replace it.

Bummer. Part wasn't cheap either.

Keith

Yup, I ordered the original part from MGCycle. These guys are really great.

I called them up, spoke to Gordon and explained the problem. No hassles at all. He said it was unusual that the part didn't perform as they haven't seen problems with it before. They'll send a no charge replacement as soon as one comes in stock.
