Strangest thing happened today. I got off the freeway and from a stop light, suddenly my v7 iii started to not accelerate properly.

I go into second roll on the throttle and no engine noise, then suddenly starts to accelerating. Then next stop light it worked right till third gear, tired throttling, nothing. Shifted back to second and rolled on throttle and it acted sluggish.

What the heck is going on?

Not getting enough fuel? Fuel filter failing?

Could be water in the ethanol .
Good thought, I had a K1000 years ago and got a tank of bad gas. Acted exactly like SaulGuzzi describes. Would work fine, then stumble, and buck, then OK again, then sudden power loss. I drained the tank and refilled with new fuel from a different station and all was good.

Yes, that could be. Could be water in the ethanol . Oil soaked air filter. Got software?

Actually today's gas with ethanol will handle some water. When I was growing up in New England we would add dry gas to the fuel to prevent gas line freezing as the stuff would mix with water. The product was call dry gas, and it is basically just ethanol. For water contamination to cause a problem he would have had to get a tank of fuel from a station that had water in the storage tanks above the pump suction pipe. Ethanol in small quantities (10% or less) is not evil as many would say. Only drawback is fuel with ethanol contains less energy than pure gas.
