My manual is not very informative on the differences between the manual and auto suspension set up on the S model. When in manual,is the suspension still semi active,or are the settings constant? In other words when in a manual setting, does the suspension still automatically adjust the damping rates according to road conditions or are they fixed? I have been trying to get a more comfortable set up when in rain and tour modes, which I have done by putting them both in M2,but am wondering whether I have lost the active damping in doing so.

To be honest I too find the suspension set up confusing on my "S", I don't notice anything different between all the setting, it all seems very firm to me. the one that makes the most difference is the manual pre load on the rear, I have mine fully anti clockwise for a comfortable ride.

I notice quite a big difference between A2 and M2 settings.M2 is more compliant, and takes the edge of sharp bumps.Definetly more comfortable, whilst still preventing the bike getting out of shape,at least at the speeds I ride!

So is the S worth the extra money for the semi active if you have to select manual to achieve a compliant ride?
Everybody is different.I think it is worth it,not just because of the Ohlins.I prefer the two tone colour scheme, plus the heated grips and TPMS.Not fussed about the quick shifter, but some may like it.

I have the S and I did not regret. Ohlins are great suspension while the base kayaba looked to me too hard. In addition I like switching from A1 to A2 in the various riding modes depending on road type, riding style etc.
