Hi, I have a 2017 Stelvio purchased used and found out that the suspension has been lowered. My inquiry is how is it done concerning the rear shock, do they replace with a shorter spring or remove some kind of spacer from the shock? Thanks for helping

Best to show a photo of the shock (is it stock) or can you see what brand it is(?). It could've been lowered via the linkage as well. Shorter spring is only half the equation, but people do dumb things like this all the time.

Thank you GTM, I will take a photo of rear shock and post it.

I have taken a few not very explicit though

Looks like a stock shock, so my guess is that it's from a Norge. I don't see any special linkage in those photos. Yellow spring is stock NTX, Norge was red.
If I were you, I'd upgrade the rear shock to something far better suited HERE, or buy a used stock shock. We may have a low mile take-off if so. Write us direct email; Sales @GTMotoCycles.com

I spoke with someone working where I bought the bike, he said it had been lowered, the previous owner was shorter.
I understand. Thank you very much.

I thought this may be the case but I can now only assume that either they have no searchable records or nobody is there that could give you more information as to what was actually done.

The reason I asked is because even in my BMW days, motorcycles with a factory lowering kit were a really rare bird. I maybe encountered 3 or 4 in my entire motorcycle career.

So, to me, I wouldn’t even begin to guess at what constitutes a lowering kit on your model. I’m honestly unsure if they even made such a thing.

If there isn’t a factory lowering kit, then the way somebody would go about this in a safe and sane manner, honestly confounds me. I don’t believe that the stock shock is serviceable. I’m pretty sure is a purpose built, standard type non-serviceable suspension that you couldn’t just “remove some kind of spacer from the shock” and especially not a dealer.

I’m unable to really see much in your photos but I would trust GTM’s information. He’s going to be your best resource I’m sure.
